PricewaterhouseCoopers elects new CEO

PricewaterhouseCoopers Partner Bruce Hassall has been elected the new CEO of the New Zealand firm, PwC has today announced.

Bruce was elected by PwC’s 114 NZ partners, and will formally take up his role on 21 September. The election follows the appointment of current PwC CEO Warwick Hunt as Managing Partner of PwC’s Middle East Regional practice. Warwick will remain with PwC New Zealand for a transition period until early October.

Warwick: “Bruce’s tremendous skill and experience, as well as his leadership capabilities as an active participant in both the accounting profession and the broader business community, equips him brilliantly to continue to build the firm and maintain its position as the market leader,” he says.

“I warmly congratulate Bruce on his election, and am very pleased to see the leadership of our firm pass on to such capable hands.”

Bruce has been head of the firm’s Advisory practice for the past year, and has extensive experience with both major public and private company groups and a range of industries, including the retail, travel, communications and entertainment sectors. He also headed the firm’s Assurance practice for four years.

Commenting on his election, Bruce says: “I am very excited about leading our firm and working with our clients as we all focus on succeeding in today’s economic climate. Now is the time to help our clients capitalise on the opportunities ahead as the economy rebounds.”
