Foodstuffs Wellington Appoints New MD

Foodstuffs Co-operative Society (Wellington) Ltd Chairman, Mr Brian Drake today announced the appointment of Mr Craig Wilson as Managing Director for Foodstuffs Wellington, commencing on 1 February 2010.

Craig takes up the role from Tony McNeil who leaves on 31 March 2010 after 12 years with Foodstuffs.

Mr Drake said Tony has seen the company grow from a $900 million turnover in 1998 to over $2.2 billion in sales this year and an enviable market share position.

“On behalf of the board and membership, I would like to convey our sincere thanks to Tony for his leadership of the Society over this time and to offer our best wishes to him and his family for the future.”

Craig’s career includes a 10-year spell with Woolworths NZ followed by several senior management roles with Lion Nathan’s Liquor King group before he became CEO of New Zealand’s largest co-operative hardware group, Mitre 10.

Mr Drake said Craig has held that role since June 2001 where he led strong sales growth during a period of great industry consolidation and aggressive competitor activity.

“Our board is delighted to have appointed someone with Craig’s depth of experience and achievement. We are looking forward to welcoming him in his new role at Foodstuffs Wellington.”
