Freightways To Deliver Parcels In NZ For Australia Post
AUCKLAND, Wednesday 02 September 2009: Freightways (NZX:FRE) announced today it has signed an agreement and commenced
delivering parcels in New Zealand on behalf of Australia Post.
This involves the transition of Australia Post international inbound express mail service (EMS), air parcels and courier
product to DX Mail and New Zealand Couriers, effective immediately.
According to Dean Bracewell, Managing Director, Freightways Limited, the use of DX Mail’s international mail centre at
Auckland Airport will enable the easy flow of Australia Post’s international inbound EMS and air parcel product into New
Zealand.
“We have developed technology-enabled solutions to provide Australia Post customers with seamless tracking of
international products from point of pick-up overseas to final delivery in New Zealand,” he said.
Freightways is a leading New Zealand express package service provider. After pioneering New Zealand’s express package
industry in the 1960’s, Freightways’ businesses have developed significant expertise in this market.
Australia Post is a highly successful postal operator which has diversified into the express package and global
logistics market internationally.
Mr Bracewell said that Freightways’ domestic express package capability and Australia Post’s network reach and scale
were a natural complementary fit.
“We believe this relationship will benefit customers on both sides of the Tasman and deliver incremental value to
shareholders and all other stakeholders of Freightways, as well as Australia Post,” he added.
