Contractors Have Capacity To Deliver

Roading New Zealand’s Chief Executive, Chris Olsen today welcomed the New Zealand Transport Agency’s (NZTA) announcement of the $8.7 billion to be invested in New Zealand over the next three years through the National Land Transport Programme. This will certainly assist economic growth across the country and position New Zealand well for a recovery after the recession.

Mr Olsen says contractors are well placed to meet the challenge of a 19% increase in state highway funding over the next 3 years and have substantial capacity to deliver the new programme.

“The new NLTP programme will provide contractors with the necessary confidence to continue to invest in their people and new equipment necessary to deliver the increase in work programmes” says Mr Olsen.

Mr Olsen notes that despite provision for inflation in the first year of the programme there is no provision for subsequent years.

“We would be very keen to work with NZTA to identify efficiencies and value for money improvements in the maintenance area to counter any increases in inflation,” he said.
