Students eager for work over mid-semester holidays says SJS
24th August 2009
Job vacancies are being snapped up by tertiary students eager for work. With students eager for job opportunities,
Student Job Search (SJS) is encouraging the community and business owners to hire a student particularly during the
upcoming Semester break that progressively occur from Monday 24th August until Sunday 13th September 2009 around the
country.
With this mid-semester break commencing and spring nearly upon us, in a bid to get more jobs listed, SJS is reminding
householders that students are keen to help out with tasks such as gardening and cleaning around the house. Business
owners too can use students to get on top of those jobs that need to be done.
Students are finding fewer work opportunities at present as jobs are filled quickly. Students are keen and eager to earn
some money during the Semester holiday break and SJS hopes that the community will get behind the students and contact
SJS to get those jobs done. SJS is encouraging tertiary students looking for work to be checking www.sjs.co.nz for job
listings on a daily basis and to be flexible in the type of work they are looking for.
SJS places students into over 30,000 jobs each year and is a free employment service offering employers students with
all kinds of skills willing to do all kinds of work since 1982. Each year SJS generates more than $69 million worth of
student earnings. SJS is not-for-profit and is owned and governed by students’ associations. The majority of jobs placed
by SJS are in retail, hospitality, household and office/professional industries. SJS helps students to find a wide range
of jobs from labouring jobs, tutoring, IT staff and office work over summer when staff are taking holidays.
