Deadline for US-focused health challenge

NZTE Media Release: Deadline approaching for US-focused health challenge

21 August 2009: The deadline is fast approaching for entries into New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s business development competition – the Focus on Health Challenge.

The competition offers the chance to win a share of a prize pool worth more than $750,000 of in-kind and cash prizes and to participate in a road-show in the United States where they will be able to present their idea, product or service to potential partners, investors and buyers. Entries close on Monday 31 August.

NZTE’s Operations Director Hans Frauenlob says that the competition is designed to stimulate new product development, innovation, commercialisation and collaboration within New Zealand’s healthcare industry.

“In addition to the in-kind and cash prizes, the health challenge offers the chance to be connected to a network of influential health and business professionals in New Zealand and the United States.

“Included in this network is the Ministry of Health who have agreed to review all entries to see if any are suitable for New Zealand’s own health sector. Anyone with a health innovation idea, product or service has nothing to lose by entering, and so much to possibly gain. And all that is needed is a business plan executive summary.”

Any type of health innovation product or service that has not already been fully commercialised in the United States can be entered. Entries can include software, hardware, medical devices, bioactive or pharmaceutical products and services.

To enter, individuals or companies need to submit a business plan executive summary. Visit www.nzfocusonhealth.com for full entry details including an entry form and participant agreement.
