Elders continues on course of change
Elders New Zealand is set to embark on the next phase of a business transformation designed to improve the provision of products and services to the country’s agricultural sector.
The second stage of the company’s restructure – details of which will be announced after the staff consultation process – follows on from the initial phase which involved the establishment of a more regionally-focused management structure.
The company’s new management structure is more closely aligned to New Zealand’s geographical regions, which are defined by common client and market characteristics, and involved moving from a national product management structure to a regional and area management structure.
Elders New Zealand Managing Director, Stuart Chapman, said the second stage plans involved centralisation of some administrative functions and a possible contraction of a small number of real estate offices and farm supply depots.
“As a company dedicated to better serving the needs of New Zealand’s agricultural
sector, we recognise the need for change. “This reorganisation of our business allows us to respond much more effectively and efficiently to the demands and needs of our clients, which means improved access to the most relevant products and services for farmers across New Zealand,” Mr Chapman said.
“Our planned actions further underline Elders’ commitment to the New Zealand agribusiness sector. We want to ensure the company is placed in the best position possible for future growth and development.”
Implementation of the proposals is subject to the outcomes of a consultation process with staff.
Elders continues to invest in New Zealand agriculture through initiatives such as the establishment of the successful Matamata Saleyards, Wool Marketing Enterprises’ investment in, and launch of, the “Just Shorn”TM retail wool carpet brand, and the acquisition of robust businesses such as Seed Production Limited.
