Radius Health moves its mobile solutions to Gen-i
Gen-i has won a contract with Radius Health Group that extends its provision of voice and data services to include mobility solutions enabled by Telecom’s new XT Mobile Network.
The new “Whole of Business” telecommunications contract includes data, voice, mobile (voice and data) and internet/extranet services. Radius has started to migrate its mobile connections across from Vodafone to the new XT Network.
The deal will bring together all of Radius Health’s telecommunications services to create business efficiencies, deliver cost savings and enhance customer service across the Group, which provides health and wellness care for New Zealanders through its pharmacies, medical centres and residential rest homes.
The deal follows contracts wins recently announced by Gen-i with Crane Group and Harcourts, and increases Gen-i’s number of new XT mobile connections to over 17,500. In addition, Gen-i has generated over 7,500 upgrades amongst clients looking to move to the new XT Network.
Radius Health’s Chief Information Officer, Steve Mayo-Smith, says Radius Health aims to deliver a preventative health service model that creates “wellness” for its customers, rather than simply dealing with, and paying for, illnesses. Mobile technologies offer new ways for Radius to provide care and advice to its clients, wherever they are, and help resolve health concerns before they become an illness.
“Consolidating all of our telecommunications with Gen-i will provide significant cost savings, simplify our billing and make managing our mobile usage easier,” said Mayo-Smith. “We also look forward to leveraging Gen-i’s ICT expertise to create converged communications solutions that combine mobile with fixed line, broadband and IT for further business efficiencies.

Mayo-Smith says Gen-i’s national presence, responsiveness and quality of service was another key reason the existing relationship with Gen-i has been so successful.
“We have over 70 locations nationwide and it’s important for us to have a partner that is responsive to our needs by providing support in the major cities, as well as locally in the regions.
“Gen-i also supports the entire IT and telecommunications needs for our data centre in Napier. We have confidence in Gen-i’s ability to provide us with the best service and the team has always been there whenever we’ve needed support. They have listened to our needs and worked with us to deliver solutions that best fit our requirements,” added Mayo-Smith.
Providing quality health and wellness care for New Zealanders is a 24 by 7 job and Gen-i’s mobility solutions enable Radius staff to better conduct their day-to-day business.
“All of our doctors in our medical centres have remote access to our medical systems and email via mobile devices. That enables them to respond to any of their urgent needs at any time, allowing them to get closer to patients and deliver an even better service.”
“Our sales team needs to monitor and manage nationwide pharmacy sales while out on the road. Gen-i’s mobility solutions allow the team to conduct their business on the move and remotely access sales data even faster, through our point of sale system, Toniq. This allows us to maximise the productivity of our people and instantly get critical data back to head office.”
Mayo-Smith says the new mobile contract also offers recruitment and retention benefits.

The transition of mobile services from Vodafone began with Radius Health’s 35 nationwide pharmacy outlets transitioning to Gen-i in January 2009. Remaining connections will migrate to the XT Network by September 2009.
