Media Design School students win big at NAB awards

Congratulations to Axis Adschool (at Media Design School) students Tim Twigden and Karin Lundgren who won the Topical Newspaper Prize at the NAB Student Creative Newspaper Advertising Awards this year. The ad had to be about a local story in the Otago Daily Times, a particularly tricky brief, but a story about a lost tramper carrying only a can of baked beans gave them an irresistible fart story - and because it was a front page story their ad didn’t have to resort to the ‘cut out the article and tell a joke’ formula. Congratulations also to our Axis Adschool graduates who not only took out the big Newspaper Ad of the Year prize but also six of the finalist places.

Whilst we’re on the subject of newspapers: last week a couple of this year’s Axis Adschool students released their word of mouse/mouth project online. Over the weekend it was picked up by the Herald, two days later it went ballistic to the tune of 4 million hits worldwide and newspaper stories in eighty papers including the Telegraph in the UK, The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Bombay News and The China Times. Hmmm, how’s that for effectiveness? More on that story and a few other projects in the next edition of AdMedia.

Ends.
