BNZ Monthly Confidence Survey Results

BNZ Monthly Confidence Survey Results

Our monthly BNZ Confidence Survey has revealed that a net 15% of respondents feel positive about the economy over the coming year. By historical standards this result is very high. But it is down from 18% in June and 27% in May and in our opinion still mainly reflects a “sigh of relief” that a major downturn scenario has been avoided rather than outright expectations of strong growth as such.

In many sectors conditions remain very tough but there is some evidence of mild improvement in recent weeks. In residential real estate the listings shortage continues and although there is strong demand for well priced properties in lower price brackets, there is no evidence of prices in general tracking up at this stage.
