Harcourts Cromwell franchise changing hands

   MEDIA RELEASE

Harcourts Cromwell franchise changing hands

 25 June 2009:

The owners of the Harcourts Queenstown franchise have negotiated to purchase the Harcourts Cromwell franchise from M C Realty Group Ltd, which is owned by Marlene Connolly.

Mrs Connolly, who purchased the Harcourts franchise for the Cromwell, Alexandra and Ranfurly areas in 2005 after a successful career in Auckland and on Waiheke Island, has retained ownership of the Harcourts franchises for Alexander and Ranfurly and will continue operating Harcourts offices there.

However from 1 July the Harcourts Cromwell franchise will be owned by Queenstown Real Estate (1998) Ltd, which already operates Harcourts offices in Queenstown and Arrowtown.

When the change of ownership occurs, the Harcourts Cromwell office will be managed by John Petre, who is a shareholder in Queenstown Real Estate (1998) Ltd along with Kelvin Collins, Geoff Stevens and Warwick and Marie Osborne.

Mr Petre says he and his business partners are excited about expanding their operation to include the Cromwell area.

“We believe there are strong synergies between our existing offices in Queenstown and Arrowtown and the Cromwell region, which is about 45 minutes drive away, and we are excited about the challenges of extending our catchment area through the Kawarua Gorge and into this thriving area.”

Mr Petre, who is set to join the 11 strong Cromwell team as their Branch Manager, says he and his business partners are keen for the Cromwell office to have more of an auction focus and also to increase the team’s involvement in the commercial property segment of the market.

“Queenstown Real Estate (1998) Ltd has been a consistent, award-winning company within the Harcourts group and we believe that by working together the Queenstown, Arrowtown and Cromwell teams will continue to grow their respective businesses,” Mr Petre says.
