Jetstar extends all day, every day, low fares with daily Wellington-Christchurch service
Low fares leader Jetstar has today celebrated the commencement of its daily Wellington-Christchurch service, marking the full realisation of the airline’s launch schedule of 84 weekly return services and bringing even more low fares flying to New Zealand.
The new service marks the reinstatement of the route by the Qantas Group, and brings more than 1,200 additional seats to Wellington each week.
In addition to the new daily Wellington-Christchurch service, Jetstar today also introduces an additional Auckland-Wellington service (now three times daily) and adds an additional Auckland-Christchurch service (now six times daily).
Jetstar Chief Executive Officer Bruce Buchanan said Jetstar was proud to be introducing affordable flying on its fifth domestic New Zealand route, and further growing its capacity for the convenience of New Zealand business and leisure travellers.
“Today we are celebrating our second week of operation in the domestic New Zealand market, and we’re pleased to be adding this new daily service with the support of our third modern and comfortable A320 aircraft to be based in New Zealand,” Mr Buchanan said.
To coincide with the event, Mr Buchanan introduced an all-new Jetstar innovation for the benefit of the airline’s New Zealand passengers – a unique Lowest Fare Finder application at Jetstar.com.
“Our new Lowest Fare Finder application allows our passengers to search a particular flight, for example Wellington-Christchurch, over a period of 30 days at Jetstar.com. The Lowest Fare Finder is a simple and easy-to-use tool, which clearly shows the lowest available fare on each day.
“This means our passengers can quickly determine what day they may be able to get the lowest fare. This is all part of our commitment to making our all day every day low fares even more accessible for our New Zealand passengers,” Mr Buchanan said.
Jetstar backs its every day low fares commitment to its New Zealand customers with the Jetstar Price Beat Guarantee, which means when booking on Jetstar at a similar date and time the airline will beat any competitor by 10 per cent.
Jetstar provides its passengers greater choice in how they fly, with a diverse product offering including JetSaver Light fares, where passengers can travel for a lower fare with carry on baggage only, and Extra Leg Room seats.
Mr Buchanan said Jetstar offered New Zealand consumers award-winning service, efficient modern A320 aircraft with comfy leather seats, new and innovative products and the lowest fares in the market.
With the support of the additional A320 aircraft to now be positioned in New Zealand, Jetstar today also introduced a new schedule offering customers new flexibilities and improved timings.
“The introduction of a third A320 aircraft into our domestic New Zealand fleet has provided the appropriate opportunity to introduce a more refined schedule across our network.
“Importantly this includes better timed services, more time buffers throughout the operating day to recovery from weather related delays and longer block and turn times in the respective Wellington and Queenstown markets,” Mr Buchanan said.
Celebrations were held today at Wellington Airport, with Jetstar executives joined by tourism, community and business leaders in welcoming the new low fare services to Wellington.
Qantas Frequent Flyer members can earn points and status credits when travelling on Jetstar on JetFlex fares within New Zealand. Qantas Frequent Flyer members can choose to use their points for flight awards on Jetstar services in two ways; via Qantas and Partner Classic Awards or Jetstar Any Seat Awards.
A Qantas code share will be offered on all Jetstar domestic and trans Tasman New Zealand services, including for Qantas customers who hold a Qantas International and/or Tasman sector in the same itinerary.
Qantas Club lounge access is available for eligible customers travelling from Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.
The new services highlight Jetstar’s ongoing investment in the New Zealand market having also recently commenced trans Tasman operations from Auckland, which combined with its Christchurch trans Tasman services now total 42 weekly return flights.
Jetstar offers a total of 84 weekly return services between Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown.
