Milestone Homes congratulates Government on state homes announcement
Comment from Stephen Murray, General Manager, Milestone Homes
“Milestone Homes, the affordable home builder, congratulates the Government on its announcement to allow state house tenants to buy their homes from September.
“Affordable housing is what we do at Milestone, and we support any initiatives to help more New Zealanders into home ownership to realise the Kiwi dream. The social and economic benefits to the individual, their extended family and the community of owning a home are immeasurable.
“As well as the positive effect on those current tenants that are able to buy their house, the Government’s decision to put the sale proceeds into building new state homes helps families on the waiting list into their own homes and potentially sets them on the path to buying their own home down the track.
“The scheme also provides much needed stimulus to the building and related industries, and the wider economy, all of which are suffering with building consent figures at an all time low.”
