Carol Hirschfeld Makes Career Move
Executive Producer of Campbell Live, Carol Hirschfeld, is to leave TV3 in August to become Head of Programming for the Maori Television channel.
TV3 Director of News and Current Affairs Mark Jennings said he was disappointed to be losing someone of Carol’s calibre, but supported her career desire to strengthen her broadcasting and management skills.
“Carol and I have talked about her career objectives, and I appreciate this is too good an opportunity for her to pass up. We have a strong partnership with Maori Television, and in some ways it’s a move within our broader TV family. From my perspective, she couldn’t be going to a better broadcaster,” said Mr Jennings.
“Carol leaves Campbell Live in a strong position. I’m very happy with the editorial content on the show, which is endorsed by the audience with the programme rating solidly and outperforming its competitor in key viewer demographics,” he said.
Carol Hirschfeld says she has mixed emotions about leaving TV3.
“I have had a very happy and rewarding 11 years at TV3 and it is with real sadness I will say goodbye to my colleagues at the channel. People are what make a workplace a satisfying place to be – I’m lucky as I’ve worked with the best. I will of course particularly miss working with John (Campbell) but I’m immensely grateful to him for the gracious support he’s shown over my decision to take up this new position. He is a great broadcaster – it’s been a privilege to work alongside him as his co-presenter and producer,” she said.
