Southland realtor increases stake in Chch Market

MEDIA RELEASE

Successful Southland realtor increases stake in CHCH market

14 May 2009: Successful Southland realtor Tony Jenkins has increased his stake in the Christchurch real estate market, building on the success he has already achieved in the lower South Island and buying into a successful multi-office franchise in the Garden City.

In the real estate profession for almost 20 years, Mr Jenkins was one of the founding partners of the Harcourts Invercargill office, has established offices in Gore and Wanaka and last year bought a 50% shareholding into the St Albans office in Christchurch.

Recently he has expanded his interests in Christchurch, having purchased shares in successful Harcourts Holmwood Real Estate, which has four offices – one in Fendalton, one in Merivale and two in Ilam – and is also involved in a joint venture property management office.

He says the chance to purchase the shares of retiring Harcourts business owners Carolyn Hughes and Sandie O’Brien came “out of the blue” and was an exciting opportunity he couldn’t resist.

“My company has a proud history in the lower South Island and I’m thrilled to be able to take what I’ve learned here and to apply it in Christchurch, where I hope as many other Southlanders have proved over the years that we can be successful in bigger markets too.

“I’ll still be very much involved in my Harcourts offices in Southland and Otago and will remain strongly connected to those regions, but it’s exciting to be increasing my engagement in the competitive Christchurch property market,” he says.

Mr Jenkins says he is keen to combine strengths with his business partner in Harcourts Holmwood Real Estate and the shareholders in the company’s offices to achieve success.

Business partner Lynne MacDonald says it is great to have Mr Jenkins on board.

“Tony has a proven track record as a successful Harcourts business owner and it’s great for the Holmwood team to be able to benefit from the skills, experience and knowledge he has. The injection of enthusiasm and energy is also a major plus which I’m sure will also contribute to Holmwood’s future success.”
