Protecting Jobs A Priority At ASB

Protecting Jobs A Priority At ASB

ASB remains 100% committed to doing whatever we can to retain as many jobs as possible for New Zealanders right here in New Zealand.

“During April, we confirmed publicly that ASB would not be moving any of its banking operations activities or roles offshore,” says ASB’s CEO, Charles Pink.  “In fact, of the 5,300 jobs in the ASB Group all 5,300 are performed in New Zealand.  ASB has no plans to change this strategy - we will not be offshoring jobs from New Zealand to low cost countries.”

Two weeks ago ASB also announced a series of cost saving initiatives, which include pay cuts for executives and directors. These initiatives are intended to responsibly address the effects on ASB’s business of the global economic recession.  “The reason for this is to keep our people in jobs.  We confirm again that redundancies always have been, and will remain, a last resort at ASB.”
