Freightways Appoints New Director
Freightways Limited (Freightways) today announces the appointment of Roger Corcoran to the Freightways Board of Directors, with effect from 15 May 2009.
Roger Corcoran, who is based in Australia, will bring to Freightways his extensive global business experience gained during a 30 year career with TNT. Roger retired as CEO of TNT Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands in December 2008, having worked throughout the world during his years with TNT. In his final role with TNT, Roger worked closely with the Freightways team in the development of its strategic alliance with TNT. As such, Roger has a unique insight into Freightways and its people.
In welcoming Roger as a Freightways Director, Chairman Wayne Boyd said, “Roger brings to Freightways substantial express package industry knowledge and broad global business experience. Importantly he is based in Australia where Freightways has in recent years established its own business presence. I am delighted to welcome Roger to the Freightways team.”
“I am very honoured and pleased to join the Board of Freightways and look forward to contributing to the ongoing success of the company,” said Mr Corcoran.
“It is important our Board attracts and retains people with the appropriate mix of skills to complement both the current and future development of the company. A formal process exists to identify and appoint directors as part of the Board’s long-term succession plan,” Mr Boyd said.
At the company’s Annual Shareholders Meeting in Auckland on 29 October 2009, shareholders will be asked to re-elect Mr. Corcoran to the Board of Freightways Limited.
