‘Rookie of the
Year’ accolade – part luck, part hard work
There’s an element of luck involved in being a successful real estate salesperson according to Tony Chaudhary, recipient of Bayleys Real Estate’s Commercial and Industrial Rookie of the Year.
Based at Bayleys Manukau office and working in
the field of investment sales in the greater Manukau region,
Tony has brokered property deals totaling more than
$25million dollars since joining Bayleys in
2007.
“There’s no denying that luck plays an important role in this industry, but there’s a lot more to it than that,” says Tony, adding that being a real estate professional requires focus, dedication and plenty of hard work.
“I don’t believe you can take short-cuts in real estate. My role is to understand my clients’ needs and not to make assumptions about their situations or requirements. Listening can be hard for a salesperson to do as the temptation is there to talk and talk,” he said.
“But by taking the time to understand what my clients’ are trying to achieve, I’m able to match people with the right properties and negotiate successful outcomes,” explains Tony.
Bayleys Manukau’s commercial and industrial manager, Dave Stanley, says that en-route to taking out the ‘Rookie of the Year’ title, Tony has also clocked up awards for achievement and top salesperson for the office. Dave Stanley puts these accomplishments down to sheer hard work and a willingness to do the extra things needed to conclude a successful deal.
“Tony has the ability to communicate very well with his clients. He even speaks several different languages which gives Tony real credibility in the diverse marketplace he’s working in,” said Dave Stanley.
“He has built up a comprehensive database of buyers and vendors, and maintains regular contact with them all – a very important discipline to have, especially in the current economic climate where peoples’ situations can change dramatically day-to-day.”
