LexisNexis Releases LAWbase Upgrade
Enhancements Signal Ongoing LexisNexis Commitment to LAWbase Customers
AUCKLAND, 31 March 2009 – LexisNexis New Zealand (www.lexisnexis.co.nz), a leading provider of content-enabled workflow solutions, today announced the release of Lexis LAWbase 4.17, the first significant upgrade of the most widely used legal practice management software in New Zealand since LAWbase was acquired by LexisNexis in June last year.
“We are committed to supporting Lexis LAWbase customers now and into the future,” said Jamie Kruger, Director, Total Solutions, at LexisNexis New Zealand. “Significant time and investment has gone into the release of LAWbase 4.17, which is an important product in our lineup of legal practice management solutions.”
Lexis LAWbase is the leading practice management software for small and medium law firms in New Zealand, with a customer base of more than 500 firms. It is the most widely used legal practice management system in New Zealand, delivering solutions to lawyers that encompass billing, time recording, trust accounting, matter management, marketing, and management reporting.
The Lexis LAWbase 4.17 upgrade provides users of the current LAWbase system with a number of enhancements including a mortgage manager module, and improvements to both GST and resident withholding tax (RWT) reporting and handling.
For Lexis LAWbase users running previous versions of the system, upgrading to version 4.17 provides a cost-effective path to a robust practice management solution with features that include:
• An industry-standard Microsoft SQL server platform
• Integration with standard Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
• A superior reports engine with the facility to export reports to standard productivity applications
• Improved online billing and reporting
• Remote installation of software updates
• Enhanced online help
In addition to the Lexis LAWbase enhancements, LexisNexis has actively invested in developing its practice management support infrastructure. In the area of helpdesk support, LexisNexis has doubled the number of support staff since June 2008, while sophisticated remote support software allows the helpdesk staff to provide online customer support and provision updates.
“By leveraging technology to improve our product support capabilities, we have been able to better help manage support costs for our clients,” added Kruger.
LexisNexis provides firms with technology-based solutions that improve efficiency and increase productivity by streamlining business tasks, capturing more billable hours, and providing accurate business reporting. By reducing administration time, firms can better focus on servicing clients and developing growth opportunities.
The LexisNexis portfolio of practice management solutions caters for law firms of all sizes, from sole practitioners and barristers to large practices with 50 or more partners.
