Donna Chisholm Back On The Newstands

Award-winning journalist Donna Chisholm is back in print on Monday in her new role as Editor-at-Large for Metro magazine.

Her first feature for Metro is a cover-story on Capri, Auckland’s $5000-a-week rehab clinic. Chisholm, one of the country’s top journalists, is best known for her mid-1990s campaign which led to David Dougherty being freed from jail for an abduction and rape he did not commit. The campaign was the subject of a television movie, Until Proven Innocent, which screened recently on TVNZ.

In February she took up her new role writing for both Metro and North & South magazine (to which she will contribute national stories). Chisholm was formerly deputy editor on the Sunday Star-Times. The new role will allow her to concentrate on investigative reporting, which she missed during the years she was involved in management and editing. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to concentrate on doing what I love best,” she says.

In a 30-year career, Chisholm has specialised in reporting on health, social justice and crime. She has twice won Qantas newspaper feature writer of the year.

Metro’s April issue goes on sale on Monday, 30 March, 2009.
