Magda loses 75cm from her frame
Shrinking comedienne Magda Szubanski has lost 75cm from her body since embarking on a weight loss program with Jenny Craig and she’s feeling, “foxier than ever.”
“I can’t believe it,” said Magda. “I’ve lost 75cms from my body so far — that’s the width of my bedroom door, or a stack of 75 blocks of chocolate!”
“It’s a classic case of less is more, the less there is of me the more I can do! For instance climbing four flights of stairs backstage without needing a lung transplant!” she said.
Magda has lost 16.5kgs with Jenny Craig since she started on the weight loss program last December, passing the halfway mark to reaching her goal weight of 85kgs.
In fact, Magda has lost so much weight, she now has to don a full body fat suit when she takes to the stage in her role as Big Jule in the musical Guys &Dolls, now showing in Sydney.
“I’d much rather wear the fat suit than wear the fat. When I put my suit on again this year after losing all this weight the pants were so huge they were like clown pants. Every time I put my pants on now it’s a reminder of just how much weight I have lost.
“Yes I am feeling a bit foxy, and when I lose another 8.5kgs I may have to sedate myself!” said the Kath & Kim star.
Magda credits her success to the support of her Jenny Craig personal consultant in their weekly meetings. “Imagine having a mother whose advice you actually listen to, that‘s what it is like having a Jenny Craig consultant,” she said. Since she embarked on her new role in Guys & Dolls, Magda has stayed on track with her weight loss despite a very busy schedule.
“I’m making better food choices on my own now, and it’s been surprisingly easy to stick to my eating plan. When paparazzi snapped me the other day, I was eating poached eggs and salad—before it would have Eggs Benedict with extra bacon, or I would have been snacking on lollies or chocolate,” Magda confided.
“I even seem to have tamed the chocolate monster; it’s nowhere near as crazy as it used to be. The great thing about the Jenny Craig program is that it teaches you to eat like a normal person and that includes having chocolate sometimes. It’s such a relief to be able to eat these things in moderation! I really love the Jenny Craig Choc Fudge Cookies and Choc Caramel Crisp bars.”
Amy Smith, managing director of Jenny Craig said Magda is past the halfway mark now, but she’s still got a way to go. “It’s great to see Magda so happy and motivated, and working towards her goal. The best thing is that she is learning lifelong skills with Jenny Craig. This is not just a fad diet.
“Jenny Craig equips people with SkillPower, allowing them to make more informed choices about food, helping to lose weight, and maintain weight with a healthy lifestyle,” said Smith.
