Taupo gets a slice of Bollywood
On Wednesday this week, Taupo was given a taste of Bollywood with a visit from one of India's leading film actresses, Preity Zinta. Miss Zinta is in town following the Indian cricket team, and took time out to participate in some of New Zealand's famous adrenalin activities, including Hukafalls Jet, bungy jumping and skydiving.
Miss Zinta, excuding enthusiasm and excitement for her day of adventure, told the team at Hukafalls Jet she was loving every moment of her trip. She will be visiting the cricket venues around the country until this Saturday at the request of Cricket New Zealand and Tourism New Zealand to promote areas here as potential film locations for the Bollywood film industry.
Steve Ming, the jet boat pilot at the helm for Miss Zinta's ride to the base of Huka Falls, was momentarily lost for words when told he may even get a part in one of the Bollywood movies!
Tourism New Zealand were filming Miss Zinta's adrenalin packed day and it's expected to be picked up by many Indian press outlets offering outstanding promotion of the Lake Taupo region to the increasingly important Indian tourism market.
