Sacred Hill releases Basket Press Merlot Cabernet

New Release

Sacred Hill releases the 2008 Basket Press Merlot Cabernet

The 2008 Sacred Hill Basket Press Merlot Cabernet is a complex and rich wine with excellent varietal concentration and finesse.

The grapes for the 2008 Merlot Cabernet originate from a Sacred Hill vineyard located in the Gimblett Gravels region in Hawkes Bay. This vintage enjoyed a good summer with plenty of hot weather and relatively low levels of rainfall which resulted in almost perfect growing and ripening conditions.

According to Sacred Hill Chief Winemaker Tony Bish the Gimblett Gravels continue to impress wine lovers around the world with their concentrated and intense red wines.

“This classic blend of Merlot and Cabernet is clear evidence of why! Deeply coloured, richly flavoured, balanced and supple in the mouth, this 08 Basket Press continues to over deliver quality and value. Produced from our own estate vineyard, where all the extra love and attention has gone into producing beautiful fruit for the winemakers to enhance,” says Bish.

The Sacred Hill Merlot Cabernet has an enticing floral spicy aroma coupled with licorice and savoury notes. The flavours unfold on the palate with warm spicy plum characters giving it a layered, supple and smooth finish.

The 2008 Sacred Hill Merlot Cabernet is available at wine outlets nationwide. RRP $20.90.
