Elders’ ‘Bushfire Sale’ For Victorian Fire Victims
New Zealand agribusiness Elders will raise money for the Victorian bushfire victims by coordinating a series of national ‘Bushfire Sales’ with donated stock commencing on March 2nd.
“As a company that is entrenched in rural communities on both sides of the Tasman, we understand the devastating impact bushfires can have on individuals and communities,” said Stuart Chapman, Managing Director of Elders New Zealand.
“To raise much-needed funds for the victims of the bushfires, we are asking our clients to donate one or a selection of their stock.”
Local transport companies have kindly donated their services to transport the stock to central saleyards where Elders staff will facilitate the sale of the stock free of charge.
The proceeds from all of the sales will then be donated directly to Elders Australia’s Bushfire Appeal.
“Our other clients are also encouraged to donate items which will be sold in ‘Clearance Sales’ at the conclusion of each sale.”
“We are encouraging farmers throughout New Zealand to attend our auctions in their local area and dig deep into their pockets to show their support to our Australian counterparts on the land.”
“We see this as a way that New Zealand’s rural community can support the victims of the bushfires while undertaking their daily business,” said Chapman.
Monetary donations can also be made at any branch of the ANZ-National bank to the Elders Bushfire Appeal Trust Account is 01 1839 0075213 00. This account will remain open indefinitely to provide an opportunity for ongoing donations.
The death toll in the Victorian bushfires is expected to exceed 300 and over 1800 houses have been destroyed.
