New trustee for Development West Coast

Robert Buchanan has been appointed by the New Zealand Law Society as an Independent Trustee to the Development West Coast Trust Board.

Christchurch born, Mr Buchanan specialises in public sector governance and risk management. A former director of the Law Commission, he was an Assistant Auditor General for eight years until setting up his independent Wellington legal practice in 2006. He replaces Brian Roche.

Tony Williams, chairman Development West Coast, said that the Trust Board has been impressed by the calibre of its recent appointments.

“Brian Roche was an excellent trustee and chairperson who added significant independent value to Development West Coast, so to have a replacement of the standing of Robert Buchanan, coupled with the recent appointment of Dr John Chang, is very heartening,” he said.

The appointment is for three years and takes immediate effect.

Development West Coast has more than $110 million of investments. It is committed to building sustainable employment opportunities and generating on-going economic benefits for the West Coast region.
