Enjoy the spirit of Chandon without the bubbles
Enjoy the spirit of Chandon without the bubbles this summer
Renowned Australian winery Domaine Chandon has released a new range of still wines.
All created at Domaine Chandon in Victoria, the still wines continue the winemaking team’s commitment to quality and style, respecting the winery’s distinguished French heritage, having been established in 1986 by prestigious French champagne house, Moët & Chandon. Whilst recognising the winery’s roots, the team’s portfolio also evokes the freedom and spirit of Australian winemaking.
Known for their critically acclaimed cool-climate sparkling wine, the new range of premium table wines capture the spirit of Chandon without bubbles but with the same complexity, elegance and authenticity that has made the groundbreaking Australian sparkling wine so successful.
Victoria’s Yarra Valley provides the fruit for much of the portfolio, however the winemaking team, led by Domaine Chandon Senior Winemaker Matt Steel, have not restricted themselves to this one region.
The team has sought to match each variety to a Victorian region that produces fruit with exceptional varietal expression and regional character. In addition to the Yarra Valley, they have sourced shiraz fruit from the highly regarded Heathcote region as well as sauvignon blanc and pinot noir from the cool Strathbogie Ranges and Alpine valleys.
The first release in New Zealand features six Domaine Chandon still wines: Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2007,Yarra Valley Barrel Selection Chardonnay 2006, Pinot Noir Rose 2008, Yarra Valley Barrel Selection Pinot Noir 2006, Heathcote Shiraz 2006 and a Yarra Valley Barrel Selection Shiraz 2005.
The Barrel selection, made from the best barrels from the winery’s Yarra Valley sources, will retail from approx $45. The Varietal tier will retail from approx $23 - $33.
The new range will be available through quality independent and major wine retailers, along with selected restaurants, hotels and bars from January 2009, distributed through Moët Hennessy.
