Backpacker Campervan & Car Rentals Set to Brighten up Downtown Auckland
Adventure campervan firm opens first bespoke Backpacker branch in New Zealand
One year on from its hugely successful re-brand, Backpacker Campervan & Car Rentals one arm of Australasia’s largest campervan rental company Tourism Holdings Limited, announces the opening of its first New Zealand independent branch in downtown Auckland on 8 December 2008.
The new depot at 83 Beach Road is the first Backpacker-only branch to hit New Zealand. All other Backpacker outlets are housed at combined Maui, Britz and Backpacker Campervan depots.
GM Sales & Marketing, Sue Sullivan, said the new site at 83 Beach Road puts Backpacker in the heart of the budget campervan strip, and allows the company to intensify its stronghold on the budget campervan and rental car market.
“While our vehicles are targeted at the budget conscious traveller, our standards are consistently high when it comes to value for money, comfort and customer service, enabling us to provide a distinct competitive advantage over other budget campervan operators.”
Sullivan noted that while the country is currently experiencing an economic downturn, the demand for campervans and rental cars from both international and domestic travellers is still significant – especially during the company’s current peak summer season.
“Customers are still looking to travel; they’re simply looking to do it in a more affordable way. When it comes to choosing which operator to travel with there really is no choice. Backpacker is renowned for its ability to provide colourful experiences at black and white prices.”
The new Backpacker branch is in a perfect location for those based in Auckland or travellers wanting to spend a few days exploring the city before heading away in a car or van.
The depot has a wide range of cars and vans suitable for visitors and locals alike, who are looking to get away this summer. Customers can pick up and drop off vans and cars hired from other Backpacker branches at the new location.
