Duxton Hotel To Offer Gift Card Technology
The Duxton Hotel Wellington is the first hotel in New Zealand to offer instantly-available gift card technology to its
customers, just in time for Christmas.
James Cowan, Duxton Wellington Sales and Marketing Director says the cards, made of recycled plastic are a win-win, with
the Duxton getting a paperless solution to gift-giving and customers getting more options.
“The cards make a gift purchase more convenient for our customers and save an enormous amount of administrative time for
us. It’s going to be quicker and easier for everyone involved, making gifting hotel products and services a more
appealing option.”
The cards can be bought at reception, loaded with amounts from $20 to $5000, and can be used to ‘stay’, ‘dine’ or ‘meet’
immediately. Examples of the versatility of the card include staff rewards, ‘thank yous’, incentive gifts or a gift for
special occasions.
Previously the voucher process saw a Duxton voucher being manually created and tracked through a spreadsheet system. If
a part-voucher had to be issued the process needed to be repeated.
“For frequent travellers time is precious. By not having to fill out new vouchers for each part transaction, we can save
customers valuable time.”
The ABnote Loyalty and Gift prepaid cards can be either in the form of gift cards or stored-value payment cards with
pre-paid entitlement to a particular item. Customers pay cash to load and reload electronic cash and/or electronic
coupons to their card. The gift cards can be loaded with whatever amount the purchaser desires. Either all or part of
the amount can then be used. When the full value of the cards has been used, the cards can be reloaded.
“Coming up to Christmas we think this is going to be very popular with our customers - and with our staff!” he says.
“It’s a high-quality, easy-to-purchase gift and a great last-minute gift for birthdays and Christmas.”
