Kiwi savvy success in Sydney wine competition
A popular New Zealand sauvignon has scored
highly in a top Australian competition.
The Sacred Hill 08 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc received a Top 100 Blue-Gold award at the 2009 Sydney International Wine Competition. The Top 100 Wines carry the distinction of being in the top 5 per cent of the thirteen Style Categories of the 2009 Competition.
The Sydney International Wine Competition is one of the few wine competitions in the world to award trophies to wine for their compatibility with food. Judged by an international panel of wine experts, the aim is to help consumers choose pleasing wines to complement dishes they enjoy at their dining table.
Sacred Hill Chief Winemaker Tony Bish says the award is a significant endorsement for the Sacred Hill Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
“This is a fantastic result. This Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has rated consistently in this competition with a blue-gold award for at least five previous vintages.
“The 2008 Marlborough vintage produced a wine with an excellent flavour and aroma, especially with aromatic varieties. This wine has a beautifully intense yet restrained aroma, and a powerful palate of complex fruit flavours,” he says.
The 2008 Sacred Hill Sauvignon Blanc is available at wine outlets nationwide, with a RRP $20.90.
