Fonterra Welcomes New Agriculture And Trade Ministers

Fonterra Co-operative Group Chairman, Henry van der Heyden has welcomed the appointments of David Carter to the Agriculture portfolio and Tim Groser to the Trade portfolio.

“The Prime Minister-designate’s recognition of the vital role of agriculture is reflected by these two senior appointments. Mr Carter has been shadow minister for six years and Mr Groser, makes an excellent choice given his many years leading New Zealand’s diplomatic efforts in world trade forums,” said Mr van der Heyden.

“Fonterra looks forward to working with both Ministers and the new government to ensure the right conditions for the continued growth and future strength of New Zealand’s pastoral industries.

“Agriculture must be a central cornerstone of any credible strategy to help New Zealand through the difficult economic times ahead.”

Mr van der Heyden said Fonterra also wanted to place on record its deep appreciation of the very substantial progress Helen Clark and her ministers achieved for New Zealand in the foreign affairs and trade areas.
