Largest-Ever Strike Prize Won By Player in Auckland
A lucky Lotto Strike player in Drury, Auckland, has won the largest-ever Strike prize tonight, says NZ Lotteries' Chief Executive Todd McLeay.
The winning Strike ticket was sold at Drury Lane Lotto Superette in Auckland and is worth a total of $1,764,676.
To date, the biggest Strike prize won was $1.46 million which was shared between two players from Cambridge and Upper Hutt in November 1997. The biggest individual Strike prize won was $1.45 million by one lucky Waitakere player in October 1993, who struck the prize on week nine of the jackpot cycle.
"This record amount has been reached in just seven weeks thanks to the large recent Powerball jackpot run and high Lotto Strike sales," Mr McLeay says.
Three other Lotto players in Papakura, Waipu and Hamilton have also won big tonight, after winning $666,667 each in Lotto First Division. The winning Lotto tickets were purchased at Edinburgh Foodmarket in Papakura, Waipu Stationery & Lotto in Waipu, and Cross Rds Lotto Mag & Stationery in Hamilton.
Lotto Powerball has jackpotted this week, and will be worth an estimated $6 million in next Saturday's draw.
Tonight's other big winner was Barbara Bruce from Waikanae who spun and won $1,000 a week for three years live on Lotto's Winning Wheel.
All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto's Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy. Players can check their ticket at any lottery outlet.
Tonight's Winning Wheel ticket was sold at Leabank Superette, Manurewa, Manukau. The serial number is 174-08925480-20XX.
"Anyone who bought a ticket at any of these winning retailers should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it as soon as possible at any NZ Lotteries outlet," Mr McLeay says.
