New Chair For Stadium Project Delivery Team
The Board of the Carisbrook Stadium Trust has appointed Trustee Stewart Barnett as Chairman of the Project Delivery Team, the subcommittee of the Board which oversees the construction project management of the Otago Stadium and its contractors.
Malcolm Farry, Chairman of the Carisbrook Stadium Trust thanked Mr Anderson for his contribution to the successful establishment of the Project Delivery Team. “Mr Anderson has ably fulfilled the requirements of the Board to establish the Project Delivery Team and the robust management and control processes necessary to ensure the construction project can be delivered on time, on budget and to the specifications required.
“He has been instrumental in securing the best people for the Project Delivery Team with the relevant experience in construction, financial management, cost control and stadia development,” said Mr Farry.
Now that the Project Delivery Team has been set up, Mr Anderson is standing down as its Chairman. The Board has appointed Stewart Barnett to the role with the appointment ratified by the Stadium Stakeholders’ Group. Mr Farry welcomed Stewart Barnett to the role. “
He brings his extensive business experience to the role, including oversight of significant capital development projects in New Zealand. Mr Barnett was previously chief executive of New Zealand’s largest meat exporter and processor, PPCS Limited, now Silver Fern Farms,” said Mr Farry. The Honourable John Hansen, Chairman of the Stadium Stakeholders’ Group, acknowledged Mr Anderson’s contribution in establishing the Project Delivery Team and noted that it would be in capable hands under the chairmanship of Mr Barnett.
The Honourable John Hansen said the Project Delivery Team had benefitted from the considerable construction project management experience of Mr Anderson.
With the establishment phase now completed, it was entirely appropriate that Mr Barnett, as a Trustee independent of the construction industry, become Chairman to avoid the potential for conflicts of interest to arise. The Stadium Stakeholders’ Group comprises representatives from the Dunedin City Council, Otago Regional Council, University of Otago and Carisbrook Stadium Trust and is responsible for ensuring that the interests of those Otago Stadium stakeholders are maintained.
