$1 reserve international airfare auction today

Media Release
5 November 2008

Buck the recession with $1 reserve international airfares on auction tomorrow

International destinations including London, Los Angeles, and Beijing are going on the block at grabaseat.co.nz with a $1 reserve.

Regional New Zealanders will be winners too with the first auction including Palmerston North to San Francisco, Dunedin to Vancouver, Napier/Hastings to Tokyo and Invercargill to Shanghai.

The auctions begin at lunchtime tomorrow (Thursday) on grabaseat.co.nz and will finish on Friday afternoon.

The lots are between two and six seats – allowing a whole family or group of friends to travel together.

The dates for travel vary between each lot, but with some travel starting the next day.

“There is a real opportunity for spontaneous Kiwis to be breakfasting in LA at the weekend. There are even flights on Christmas day for those who want to celebrate on both sides of the world,” says grabaseat’s Nicki Garraway.

Ms Garraway says that despite the tough economic times grabaseat is determined to get Kiwis out and about both around New Zealand and using the broader Air New Zealand network.

“We recently launched grabaseat weekenders which have been a hit with our customers, and grabaseat auctions will provide a fantastic opportunity for people to grab a great deal to go somewhere new.”
