URGENT MEDIA ADVISORY
Warning to check for damaged fireworks
The Warehouse is advising people who have purchased ‘Earthshaker’ boxed fireworks sets from its stores (purchase price $199.99) to double check for any damage to the integrity of the packaging or the individual fireworks before using them tonight.
Some ‘Earthshaker’ sets may have been damaged in transit and there is concern that if the individual fireworks have been affected they may pose a safety risk. The Department of Labour is warning that if the fireworks show any signs of damage – including crushed, torn or dented containers, they should not be ignited
Earlier today an inspector found some damaged Earthshaker boxes of fireworks at Warehouse stores in Invercargill, Gore and Balclutha. These were withdrawn from sale and The Warehouse took immediate steps to check stock across its store network, removing more than 100 boxes from sale.
Anyone in possession of ‘Earthshaker’ boxes should check the contents carefully and return them to store if there is any concern. Replacement boxes are available from Warehouse stores up until close of business tonight; alternatively a full refund will be provided.
