Complaint over Rodney's yellow jacket will only help MP
The organisation that tried to ban Act Leader Rodney Hide's yellow jacket says the latest complaint to the Electoral Commission about it not carrying an authorisation statement will only win the MP support.
"When we tried to have a bit of fun and ban Rodney's canary coat the public came down hard on us. Subsequently we had to lift the ban after only a few days," says Cameron Brewer of the Newmarket Business Association.
In July the Newmarket Business Association tongue-in-cheek tried to ban its local MP from wearing the jacket on the grounds that it was bad taste and out of keeping with Newmarket, a place that prides itself as being the Fashion Capital on New Zealand.
"The latest complaint will not dent Rodney's campaign but will probably only boost it. Surprisingly people really like the yellow jacket and the individuality it represents," says Mr Brewer
