Kmart celebrates 20 years in New Zealand
Kmart celebrates 20 years in New Zealand on October 17. On this day in 1988, the first Kmart store opened in Henderson, Auckland, starting a new era in New Zealand retailing. The new store was an instant success with over 1000 customers traveling many miles to attend the opening day, drawing traffic to a halt in surrounding streets as cars backed up to enter the carpark.
Today, Kmart operates 15 stores throughout New Zealand and employs over 1000 team members. Kmart continues to provide customers with the convenience of a huge range of products offering exceptional value and quality all under one roof.
Henderson Store Manager Mike Kinzett, who has worked for Kmart for 17 years, says the store certainly has changed over the past two decades but the one thing that has remained the same is Kmart’s commitment to the customer.
“Kmart continues to focus on delivering an extensive product range, at exceptional value and quality with high customer satisfaction,” says Kinzett.
Kmart is where good times start, with great value products in categories such as Toys, Leisure, Entertainment, Home, Menswear, Womenswear, Childrenswear, Footwear, Underwear and Consumables .
