New Business Manager joins BCC
Melanie Kiessner is BCC’s new Business Manager

Melanie Kiessner has joined The Bio Commerce Centre (BCC) in the newly created position of Business Manager.
Ms Kiessner arrived in Palmerston North from Dresden, Germany, 12 weeks ago and took up her new role in September.
She says “I’m looking forward to learning more about local next-generation technologies working for the BCC in
Palmerston North.”
Ms Kiessner’s area of expertise is in project management. Before joining BCC, she worked at the Chair of International
Politics at Dresden University for two years as project manager of an international e-learning project, which was a
joint venture between four universities in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and the UK.
In her new role, Ms Kiessner will manage several ongoing and new BCC projects including the further development of BCC’s
growing angel investment group, MIG, which puts funds into technology start-up companies.
She will also facilitate a carbon neutral policy for BCC’s operations.
Ms Kiessner also worked as a Research Fellow at Dresden, has a Masters' degree in international politics, and has
published several articles on European energy relations.
She came to Palmerston North to join her partner, who arrived in New Zealand in June to take up a chemistry
post-doctorate position at Massey University.
