Call For Applicants: Projects Coordinator
Thanks to the support of the Christchurch City Council's Strengthening Communities Scheme, The Physics Room is pleased to be able to call for applications for this new position within our team.
The Projects Coordinator will work 14 hours per week with The Physics Room's existing staff for a fixed term of 12 months. The focus of this position is to increase the diversity of public programmes, published projects and other significant opportunities for artists initiated by The Physics Room. The Projects Coordinator will implement the administrative processes necessary to facilitate these projects.
In the 2003 Arts Participation Survey commissioned by the Christchurch City Council, 34% of respondents said that they felt they lacked the skills to take part in arts activities in our city. In this regard, the Projects Coordinator will also be responsible for the development and extension of an ongoing series of specialised educational initiatives that will operate in conjunction with The Physics Room's core gallery exhibition programme.
The organisational output of The Physics Room has grown steadily across a wide range of areas over the last 12 years. Exhibitions and artists' projects have continued to grow in significance and scale and now we accommodate over 30 gallery and Kiosk projects annually, with public programme events contributing a further 15-20 projects, screenings, and talks on top of this.
In order to retain the opportunity for our organisation to continue to actively support the arts, and art practitioners alike, and to challenge the presentation and facilitation of contemporary art projects, it is necessary that this ever-increasing administrative load is shared not only by the existing Physics Room staff members and volunteers but also by the much needed role of a Projects Coordinator within our organisation.
For a copy of the relevant job description or any other enquiries relating to this opportunity please email: vanessa@physicsroom.org.nz
To express your interest in this position please forward your CV and a covering letter outlining the skills you feel you could bring to the position and what you would hope to take from your time working at The Physics Room to: physicsroom@physicsroom.org.nz
Applications close: 24 October 2008, 5pm
