Retravision goes the ‘extra mile’ and signs up as an ENERGY STAR® partner
Retravision, New Zealand’s fastest growing home appliance retail group, has made a commitment to energy efficiency by becoming the latest retail chain to sign up as an ENERGY STAR partner.
ENERGY STAR is an independent, international labelling programme that identifies the top 25% most energy efficient consumer electronics and home appliances. It is administered and promoted in New Zealand by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).
As an ENERGY STAR retail partner, all Retravision products that qualify for ENERGY STAR will carry a label and be clearly visible throughout all stores. Staff will be trained to answer customer questions about the benefits of purchasing an ENERGY STAR product. Store owners are also encouraged to reduce energy consumption within their own stores.
By choosing ENERGY STAR appliances, Retravision customers will save electricity, save money and benefit the environment for future generations.
“New Zealand's energy consumption has been growing steadily with its economy and population. We are buying more products and using them for longer, so it’s really important that we choose an energy efficient model upfront, to save money in the long run.” said Mike Underhill, Chief Executive of EECA.
“Our research has shown us that 80% of consumers would consider energy efficiency when choosing a product. One of the most effective times to give them energy efficiency information is when they are in the store, about to make a purchase.” says Mr Underhill.
Products that carry the ENERGY STAR label include dishwashers, washing machines, fridges and freezers, heat pumps, TVs, DVD players, home theatre systems, computers and office equipment.
“By purchasing ENERGY STAR qualified appliances, you’ll start to see savings on your electricity bill. You’ll also be doing the right thing for the environment.” says Gray Paterson, CEO of Retravision New Zealand.
“All our stores are owner-operated which allows owners to be totally committed to their local customers. Retravision prides itself on the knowledge and service offered by dedicated and well trained staff in each of our stores. With the increasing complexity and range of electrical products available, the consumer seeks advice and Retravision is there to provide it,” continues Mr Paterson.
EECA commends Retravision for their enthusiastic support of ENERGY STAR. “It is really important that people are making the most energy efficient choices they can. Working with Retravision, we can make it easier for people to make better energy choices,” says Mr Underhill.
