Kiwi music fans set to play starring role in this year’s Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards
18 August –Vodafone wants Kiwi music fans to play an even bigger role in this year’s Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.
Music lovers can get even closer to New Zealand music with the introduction of an exclusive mosh pit, voting for the finalists of the Vodafone People’s Choice Award (VPCA), and the chance to perform like a rock star.
“This year we’ve introduced several new exciting elements to the lead up and the night of the Awards to make sure Kiwi music fans are well and truly amped,” says Vodafone New Zealand Head of Sponsorship, Richard Howarth.
“For the first time ever, music fans can play a major part in the outcome of the hotly contested VPCA by having their say right from the get-go.”
Fans can nominate their favourite Kiwi band or artist for the VPCA, from an eligible group of over 100, online at vnzma.co.nz or by free TXTing VOTE[space]Artist Name to 787.*
Back by popular demand, the Vodafone Voice of the People competition also gives one lucky fan the chance to co-present the VPCA live on stage and receive the ultimate in rock star treatment.
To compete, entrants simply lock and load a campaign video onto the official VNZMA website (vnzma.co.nz) explaining what NZ music means to them. Five finalists will then be selected and voting for the winner takes place from 15 – 26 September.
“There’s also plenty of chances to win exclusive, money can’t buy, Very Important Fan experiences,” says Richard.
VIFan winners receive tickets to the mosh pit area directly in front of the stage and can attend a private post event VIFan after-party at Vector Arena.
Budding musicians will also have the chance to rock out in the lead up to the Awards, with the Search for a Rock Star competition. The two finalists will perform to the Very Important Fan experience winners on the red carpet before the Awards, and as part of the experiential activity for the public attendees inside the Arena.
