Earl brought 25 years of experience to the Canterbury Charity Trust Hospital project. Using his local network and
construction knowledge, he was able to give the project direction, planning and programming, heading towards the
ultimatly successful completion. The end result: a 1930s rundown villa transformed into a state-of-the-art day surgery
unit.
Earl's attention to detail and hands-on management produced approximately $1 million of savings on the project,
construction, and material costs.
Randall Allardyce, Deputy Chair of the Canterbury Charity Trust Hospital, comments on Earl's contribution to the
project, "The medical-quality standards meant that Graeme had to anticipate unique demands and constraints. It was like
building an aircraft, with many related, redundant failsafe systems that added to its complexity."
NZIOB judging convenor, Graeme White comments "Graeme's volunteer hours, dedication to the project and overall
management overseeing the surgery being completed on time and on budget shows his personal contribution to a
construction project. The NZIOB is honoured to present the Supreme Award to Graeme for his outstanding efforts on the
Canterbury Charity Trust Hospital."
Mainzeal COO Peter Gomm comments on the success of the Canterbury Charity Trust Hospital project, "Mainzeal has over 40
years' experience working in New Zealand construction delivering many different types of buildings and Graeme's winning
of the NZIOB Supreme Award is true recognition of his achievement in delivering this project, which has produced such
exceptional client value.
"We are proud to have Graeme as a member of the Mainzeal team and delighted that his attention to detail, commitment and
skills in working collaboratively with the total project team have achieved such a successful outcome for him
personally, the project team, and the Canterbury Charity Trust Hospital."
