Finalists announced for
Roading Excellence Awards
The finalists in the annual Roading Excellence Awards were announced today by Roading New Zealand chief executive Chris Olsen.
Sixteen projects from throughout the country have been named finalists in the five categories sponsored by Shell Bitumen, Goughs and InfraTrain New Zealand, with the category winners up for the Roading New Zealand Supreme Award.
The award winners will be announced at a gala dinner attended by Transport Minister Annette King and industry leaders at the Duxton Hotel in Wellington on 25 August.
Mr Olsen says he is _looking forward to celebrating the achievements of companies that excel in all aspects of roading projects and best practice at the awards.
“It’s going to be a great opportunity to recognise the best performing companies in an industry which is so crucial to New Zealand’s economic wellbeing.”
The awards recognise excellence in the planning, design and construction of significant roading projects, as well as the development and implementation of best practice and collaboration in the roading industry.

About the Roading Excellence Awards:
It is the fourth year that the Roading Excellence Awards have been run by Roading New Zealand – the industry representative body for a wide range of contracting companies whose core business involves building and maintaining the country’s roading and land transport infrastructure.
The competition is open to all
organisations that administer roads, such as Transit NZ or
local authorities, as well as contractors and consultants.
Entries must be a road or pavement that vehicles drive on,
or is used by pedestrians, including sports and race tracks,
and airports. Projects must have been completed between 20
July 2006 and 4 July 2008. Marks will be awarded in the
areas of innovation, uptake of the initiative, results of
the initiative, and benefit to the
sector.
