Trust Delighted By Prestigious Award For CEO
The New Zealand Landcare Trust was delighted to learn that its new CEO, Dr Nick Edgar, has been awarded the Cawthron Institute’s inaugural Science Leader Award.
Trust chairman Richard Thompson believes it could not have come at a better time for the Trust and will greatly strengthen the evolution of Landcare in New Zealand.
“After 10 tough years of establishing the Trust’s identity and growing recognition for its “action on the ground” approach to sustainable land use, the Trust is now entering a new era of operation”.
“Nick Edgar’s receipt of this award is not only recognition for Nick’s talents and potential as a CEO but also recognition that the role of the Landcare Trust is now seen as an essential and mainstream component of New Zealand’s agricultural future”.
“The Landcare concept is all about empowering farming communities to work together, sometimes in partnership with science providers and even urban groups, to advance the cause of sustainable land management. Nick will have a very central role to play in that, which makes his timely receipt of this award so significant for the Trust and its central leadership role in developing environmentally sustainable agriculture”.
