Vector Arena appoints first events manager

Half a million people have already passed through the doors and now Auckland’s Vector Arena is gearing up for an even busier time ahead, with the appointment of its first Events Manager.

Charged with multiple event management functions at Vector Arena Jennifer Haliday is embarking on a dream job.

Not only does she have a passion for entertainment, she also has more than 15 years experience in the industry.

Most recently Mrs Haliday had her own business as a ticketing consultant, and prior to that was national account director for Ticketek NZ Ltd.

Over the time of the America’s Cup she was the food and beverage manager at the Royal NZ Yacht Squadron, having previously held a similar position at Hotel du Vin.

Mrs Haliday has also had roles as banquet manager at the Kingsgate Rotorua Hotel, and conference and reservations manager at Puka Park Lodge.

In its first year of operation Vector Arena hosted close to 50 events. Already early in its second year it has had headline acts such as The Foo Fighters, Elton John, Match Box 20, High School Musical The Ice Tour and World Wrestling Entertainment Smackdown.

Coming up in July is the Supercross and Gravity Games and Timbaland, and later in the year Andrea Bocelli, two Silver Ferns netball tests, Panic at the Disco, Judas Priest and Def Leppard to name some of what’s on offer.

It is a line-up that Mrs Haliday says shows the versatility of the venue, and one she wants to bring her vast experience to.

“It’s a fantastic multi purpose facility that everyone gets to enjoy because of the variety of events we can hold here,” she says.

And that’s exactly why Vector Arena general manager, Guy Ngata, has hired the venue’s first events manager.

“Our first year and a half of operations has been amazing and growth of our team was always planned. Jennifer brings a depth of experience to our organisation that will be vital moving forward. As we embark on a greater frequency and diversity of events it is important that we continue to bring quality to all aspects of our operation and Jennifer understands that.”

As for what keeps Jennifer Haliday enthused about providing entertainment from concerts to sporting events, family shows and expos:

“It’s about giving people an amazing experience, and touching people in a way that creates lifetime memories,” she says.
