Keeping alert for free with Westpac online banking
Online banking has been given a boost with the introduction of free email and txt alerts for Westpac’s customers. Since the introduction of alerts last month, more than 65,000 email and 55,000 txt alerts have been sent, proving their popularity with customers.
“This additional service, along with the Westpac Online Guarantee, should combine to help customers feel more confident about the security of online banking, and to maintain a watch over their finances, even if they do not sit at a computer every day,” says Westpac’s Head of e.Business, Stu Woollett.
Westpac New Zealand sees online banking as the future of personal banking, and prides itself on the effectiveness of its online banking security. From over 6.9 million online banking transactions in the past three months, the bank has only had to reimburse two customers who were victims of online banking fraud. Westpac has referred these crimes to the police for investigation.
“Westpac Online Banking alerts offer more security for our online banking customers, and is a quick and simple way for people to keep a closer eye on their finances, particularly in today’s belt-tightening climate,” says Mr Woollett.
The initiative allows customers who regularly use Westpac online banking, 10 free txt and unlimited email alerts each month. Alerts can be set up to remind customers when to pay their credit card bill, send account balances at specified times, warn of transactions over a certain amount or even warn customers when their designated balance goes below a certain amount.
Alerts are easily set up by clicking on
