Sunday magazine in top four New Zealand
weeklies
Fairfax Magazine’s Sunday magazine is
one of the top four most popular weekly magazines in New
Zealand, behind TV Guide, Woman’s Day, and NZ Womans
Weekly just released readership figures show.
The
latest Nielsen National Readership Survey, covering April 07
to March 08, shows the popular lifestyle magazine,
distributed with the Sunday Star-Times, is read by 541,000
people every week. When combined with TV Guide these
Fairfax titles reach nearly 1.2 million readers 10+ every
week.
The more accurate reflection of Sunday’s
readership is a result of Nielsen’s move to an enhanced
method of analysing magazines distributed with newspapers.
Rather than just measuring sectional readership of the main
paper, the survey also takes into account the stand alone
readership of the magazine.
This measure has seen
recorded readership for Sunday magazine leap from just under
400,000 to more than half a million, placing the magazine in
the top four weekly titles in New Zealand.
“These
results confirm what we anecdotally knew – that Sunday
magazine has a substantial readership independent of the
Sunday Star-Times,” says Sandra King, group sales and
marketing manager for Fairfax.
“As the fourth
most read weekly magazine in New Zealand, Sunday offers
great value for readers and advertisers a
like.”
“Sunday has tapped into the lifestyle
aspirations of New Zealanders, and its high-quality
production and aspirational mix of food, art, entertainment,
fashion and human interest editorial has made it an
indispensable part of weekend leisure for many
people.”
