For Immediate Release

NZI becomes a foundation sponsor of the Sustainable Business Network

The Sustainable Business Network (SBN) is proud to announce sustainability leaders NZI as foundation sponsors.

NZI’s involvement with SBN will progress the development of a new range of sustainability tools for business over the next six months including Get Sust Online (an online sustainability self-assessment tool), the creation of a sustainable products and services directory, and development of sustainability think tanks.

In addition to their role at the foundation level, NZI also sponsors the National Sustainable Business Network Awards. These prestigious awards are given out annually to companies demonstrating leadership and innovation in sustainable business practices.

In 2008, the NZI Sustainable Business Awards event will take place at the Auckland Museum on the 9th of October.

As an innovative and progressive company, NZI have been working to integrate sustainable business practices across their organisation. NZI publicly discloses its performance in its annual sustainability report - SEE.

As leaders in the insurance industry, NZI have also developed insurance products incorporating sustainability criteria.

Recognising the importance of issues like climate change, NZI provides incentives and discounts for their customers to reduce their energy consumption, drive fuel efficient vehicles and incorporate more energy efficient features in their homes.

They have involved key stakeholders in the ongoing development which is reported regularly through their sustainability report’

Head of NZI Ian Foy says, “Back in 2003 we adopted a whole-of-business approach to sustainability. This means sustainability is an integral consideration in everything we do. We’re excited by this opportunity to work even more closely with SBN.”
