It’s time to nominate wood industry trainees and companies for the FITEC National Training Awards
There’s only one week left to nominate wood industry trainees and companies for the FITEC National Training Awards.
Friday 13 June is the closing date for nominations for the seventh annual FITEC National Training Awards.
FITEC Chief Executive, Ian Boyd, says, “After hosting graduation ceremonies all over the country recently, we are hoping all eligible trainees and companies will be nominated for the national awards.
“We’ve improved the process, so that it’s simple and easy. There’s a basic two question form for all nominators to fill in, which will be assessed by a FITEC panel who will short list the nominees.”
FITEC will use a series of uniform questions to interview and report on the short listed nominees, before a judging panel of industry representatives will make the final decision.
This year, there are 11 categories covering apprentices, trainees, trainers and companies in the Forestry, Wood Processing, Furniture and Biosecurity industries.
Employers can nominate their apprentices and trainees.
Two awards, Outstanding Business Performance Through People Development and Training Company of the Year, are open nominations, which means that employees can nominate their company. FITEC is also presenting it’s own award - FITEC Training Partner of the Year - which gives FITEC staff a chance to recognise excellence in their industries.
FITEC Chief Executive Ian Boyd says, “Training is a tough yet rewarding challenge and now is the time for the wood industries to recognise excellence in individuals and companies and nominate them for the FITEC National Training Awards.
“Last year, all our winners displayed talent, a passion for their jobs and were committed to training as a way forward in the wood industry – we look forward to seeing the same outstanding industry performance in 2008.”
Nominations close 13 June and winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Rotorua on September 3, 2008.
