3 News Shows Strong Yearly Ratings Growth

3 NEWS continues to experience positive year-on-year growth into 2008, compared with 2007.

In the year to May 31, 2008, the 3 NEWS channel share has gained in the key 18-49 demographic, showing a 6.5% increase compared to the same period last year, again growing 3 NEWS’ lead in the market.

One News showed an audience share decline of -1.2% in the 18-49 demographic for the period.

During the same period, Campbell Live increased its channel share in the 18-49 Metro demographic by an impressive 24.5%, and 2.8% growth in the 18-49 demographic. In Auckland 18-49, Campbell Live grew 16.7%.

Close Up had a -3.5% decline in the 18-49 Metro demographic and -18.1% decline in Auckland 18-49.

TV3’s Director of News and Current Affairs, Mark Jennings, says the ratings figures show that viewers continue to make 3 NEWS their news channel of choice in the key 18-49 demographic.

“Its very encouraging to see the ratings growth for both 3 News and Campbell Live across our key demographics. The year-on-year increases are testament to the fact that our viewers continue to regard our news and current affairs programming as a premium service.”
