More People Reading Mana Magazine

In the current tough magazine market, Mana Magazine has a good news story.

According to the latest A.C.Neilson survey, its readership has increased by 14,000 over the past 12 months - from 122,000 to 136, 000.

"Mana can truly back its claim as New Zealand's leading Maori lifestyle, current affairs and heritage magazine," says Mana Publisher/Editor, Derek Fox.

Mana Magazine is privately owned and has been around a long time. The first issue was published in the summer of 1992/93 and it has published bi-monthly since then.

Most of Mana's readers are Maori, but up to 40 percent ticked both Maori and Pakeha boxes in another recent survey.

"Our aim is to provide a window on Maoridom for people to look through and see what we're up to. For example, in our latest issue we have the first ever media interview given by the Maori King, Kingi Tuheitia," says Mr Fox.

"Many of our stories are never told in mainstream media and we present a uniquely Maori perspective on issues that do receive wider media attention."
